  • Partnership with ACEN RES, the retail electricity arm of the Ayala group, enables Lawson Philippines’ shift to 100% renewable energy
  • Covers 25 stores across Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, and Bulacan, with rollout starting end-May under the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP)

28 April 2026 — Lawson Philippines will transition its business operations to 100% renewable energy through a retail electricity supply partnership with ACEN RES, the retail electricity unit of the Ayala group.

Lawson Philippines plans to sequentially switch to 100% renewable energy for electricity use at a total of 25 stores in Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, and Bulacan starting from the end of May, through the government-led Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). RAP is a system that enables multiple electricity consumers to aggregate their power demand and directly negotiate supply terms with licensed retail electricity suppliers such as ACEN RES. This initiative is implemented under the Retail Competition and Open Access system, which promotes energy independence and market competition.

The retail electricity supply partnership between Lawson Philippines and ACEN RES was formally signed at a contract signing ceremony attended by key executives from both organizations, including Miguel de Jesus, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Philippine Operations of ACEN, and Mr. Yasuhiro Sato, President of Lawson Philippines.

“We welcome Lawson Philippines as a new partner in promoting renewable energy adoption in the Philippines. By choosing renewables, Lawson is enabling companies like ACEN make a significant contribution to the target of the Philippines to increase the share of renewables in the energy mix This collaboration demonstrates how strategic energy choices can drive both operational efficiency and national sustainability targets,” said de Jesus.

“This partnership between Lawson Philippines and ACEN regarding the switch to renewable energy will contribute to reducing energy costs at our stores and will also provide an opportunity to raise awareness among Filipinos about the importance of the environment. We will continue to expand Lawson stores in the future and strive to reduce energy costs by utilizing renewable energy. We look forward to building a brighter, greener future together,” said Sato.

Lawson Philippines’ transition to 100% renewable energy is in line with Lawson, Inc.’s sustainability strategy, which aims to achieve a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions per store by 2030 compared to 2013 levels, and a 100% reduction by 2050.
