The first wind farm in the Visayas region, the 54 MW Guimaras Wind Farm generates over 120 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, which can sustain the energy demand of over 48,000 households. It was developed to heed the higher energy demand in the province due to the surge in infrastructure and economic progress.

  • ACEN receives multi-regional recognition from DENR for championing environmental stewardship


    28 July 2025 — In Region VI (Western Visayas), ACEN’s 54 MW Guimaras Wind project was recognized for its impactful collaboration with the DENR on the Community-based Forest Management Project and the National Greening Program (NGP).

    In 2022, DENR Region VI partnered with Guimaras Wind to adopt the NGP and Enhanced NGP, committing to the maintenance and sustainability of 176 hectares of mangrove and upland plantations in San Lorenzo, Guimaras.

  • Thriving together: Bringing healthcare closer to communities

    Through the Health Caravan, a collaboration between ACEN’s Visayas plants and Generika, communities in Negros island and Guimaras gained access to medical check-ups, mobile blood donations and health education sessions.

    By offering medical missions, feeding programs and essential health services, the initiative directly improved the lives of residents while strengthening local healthcare infrastructure. Through continuous engagement, resource allocation and collaboration with local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations (NGOs), the goal is to build a self-sustaining healthcare network that serves generations to come.

  • Sparking eco-tourism

    Guimaras Wind Farm took sustainability and tourism a step further with the launch of the Green Spark Project, a program that promotes the use of locally made “bambikes” or bamboo-made bikes within the wind farm. The bamboo bikes are set up near the Pasalubong Center, and will entail the use of the winding paths that traverses the wind turbines that tower like gentle giants over the terrain.

    Green Spark Project is a collaboration among Guimaras Wind Farm, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Bamb Ecological Technology Inc., the provincial government of Guimaras, and the municipalities of San Lorenzo and Buenavista.

  • Creating communal value through marine life protection

    ACEN’s Guimaras Wind Corporation (GWC) partnered with the Municipality of Dumangas to lead a pioneering coastal project with the goal of rehabilitating over 90 hectares of fish sanctuary and installing over 200 artificial reefs along the Dumangas Strait.

    In 2021, ACEN, signed a memorandum of agreement with the local government to initiate the development of artificial reefs through GWC as a key strategy to enhance coastal fisheries. The manmade reef structures that were installed mimic the qualities of natural reefs to provide shelter and protection for marine creatures.

  • ACEN power plants awarded IMS certification

    ACEN’s operating power plants in the Philippines were recently awarded the prestigious Integrated Management System (IMS) certification as verified by DQS Certification Philippines, Inc., one of the leading certification bodies for management systems worldwide.

    Nine of ACEN’s operating plants have passed the IMS certification for:
    • ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System)
    • ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System)
    • ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System)

  • Building a “learning forest”


    In the local community of Tanglad, Sibunag, Guimaras Wind Farm is working with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the Arboretum Project, a program that will convert a 27-hectare woodland into a “learning forest”. Select species of trees in particular quantities were identified and propagated within the green space. The saplings were chosen based on its quality and potential to enrich the biodiversity in the area. In total, over 6,000 trees were planted in the forest with the objective to be an educational resource for students where they can observe the fauna and explore its symbiotic relationship with the land.
