With the construction of the 521.5MWdc (400 MWac) first stage in full swing, the New England Solar Farm located in Uralla in New South Wales will ultimately be a combined 720 MW Solar and 400 MWhr Battery development. Once fully constructed, the project will produce enough energy to power approximately 250,000 typical NSW households each year.

Livelihood in New South Wales
The New England Solar Farm is set to bring significant value to the local community, with up to 500 direct construction jobs during the construction period that will generate employment opportunities for locals from Uralla and the surrounding region. The project aims to create direct and indirect business opportunities for the local and regional economy, potentially including equipment suppliers, contractors, labor hire companies, accommodation providers, eateries and fuel suppliers.
The Community Benefit Sharing Initiative A Community Benefit Sharing Initiative has been established to support the community by providing a yearly reward for every megawatt of power generating capacity installed at the solar farm over its 25-year working life. A fund would be built up over time to provide no-interest loans to local households, not-for-profit community groups, public buildings and businesses. The loans would be used for energy efficiency retrofitting, solar PV installation, and solar hot water and water efficiency improvements. Loan re-payments are returned to the funding pool and new funding is allocated each year until it reaches the desired level. Funding for easy-to-access grants for local projects and activities will help promote education, arts, sustainability, active lifestyles and community development.
