Thriving together: From scholar to engineer, a journey of transformation
In Ilocos Norte, the journey of one of our scholars came full circle as she joined our team as a substation engineer. Jamie Martinez’ story is a testament to the lasting impact of education and opportunity, proving that investing in people lights the way for community progress.
Jamie was once a scholarship beneficiary of NorthWind, uncertain about her future but determined to succeed. Currently, she works as a substation engineer at NorthWind, a role she proudly attributes to the support she received from ACEN’s scholarship program.
ACEN scales up Pawikan Conservation efforts in Ilocos Norte
In Ilocos Norte, ACEN’s host communities along the coastlines of Bangui and Pagudpud towns continue to be a sanctuary for endangered sea turtles through its strengthened Sea Turtle “Pawikan” Conservation Action Plan.
Led by its pioneering wind farms in the province, NorthWind and North Luzon Renewables (NLR), ACEN’s sea turtle conservation efforts have been driving the coastal communities, local government units, and environmental groups to work together in protecting these marine creatures and their eggs, which have been constantly under threat from poachers and predators.

Agro-circularity in renewable energy: ACEN collaborates with SariSuki to uplift farmers’ livelihood
ACEN partnered with SariSuki to empower local farmers in ACEN’s host communities by equipping them with the essential agricultural skills to cultivate suitable crops within the company’s renewable energy sites, and streamlining the supply chain to enhance their market reach and profitability.
Through this partnership, ACEN and SariSuki launched the Agro-Circularity in Renewable Energy program (ACRE), which will introduce modern farm management practices to local farmers, nurturing the next generation of “agripreneurs.” The ACRE program also seeks to enhance agricultural infrastructure, ensuring efficient market access from farmers to end-consumers.
