MonteSol is one of three key solar farms of ACEN located in the Negros province, is situated in Barangay Tamisu, Bais City. The solar farm supplies sustainable daytime peak power to the Visayas grid.
As the first solar farm in Negros Oriental, MonteSol was installed in just over 2.5 months or 80 days from “first pile in” to commissioning and energization (“first power out”).

ACEN’s operating power plants in the Philippines were recently awarded the prestigious Integrated Management System (IMS) certification as verified by DQS Certification Philippines, Inc., one of the leading certification bodies for management systems worldwide.
Nine of ACEN’s operating plants have passed the IMS certification for:
• ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System)
• ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System)
• ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System)

Solar energy co-exists with agriculture through ACEN’s agrivoltaics program
ACEN’s solar farms in the Philippines have piloted an innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary program which aims to support the energy transition while helping provide food security and livelihood opportunities to local communities.
Through its agrivoltaics-based program, “Solar Gulayan”, five of ACEN’s solar farms across the country have already harvested more than to 1,700 kilos of crops since the pilot farming system started early last year. As the solar farms generate an aggregate renewables capacity of 326 MW, the program ensures that available land within the solar plants are optimized for agriculture and food production.

Strengthening community ties MonteSol partnered with Generika Drug Store in conducting an outreach program and health caravan to its host community in Bais City, Negros Oriental, where more than 450 households received relief goods and 450 individuals availed free medical consultation. With the support of various local government agencies and volunteer groups, the activity strengthens our collaboration with our stakeholders and the community.
ACEN’s immediate response to Visayas typhoon victims
With the devastating impact of Typhoon Odette and the trail of destruction that it left across six regions in Visayas and Mindanao, ACEN, launched a series of relief assistance for the affected communities, immediately forming a dedicated crisis management team focused on real-time coordination to directly address issues on the ground.
In true Bayanihan spirit, ACEN, together with the Ayala group’s Brigada ng Ayala program, mobilized teams to cascade food relief, medical supplies, cash donations, and other emergency supplies to communities in Negros and Cebu immediately after the storm’s landfall on December 16, 2021.
